Aer Lingus announce its short haul Winter Schedule 2008 from Dublin

Aer Lingus has announced its short haul winter schedule for 2008 from Dublin with a new twice weekly service to the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, along with new winter services to Hamburg and the re-introduction of Newcastle, Salzburg and Agadir.

The new route to Sofia, follows on from the highly popular summer service to the Black Sea resort of Bourgas, launched earlier this year, marking the first scheduled service between Ireland and Bulgaria.

The airline will also extend services between Dublin and Hamburg from summer-only to year-round, as well as re-commencing services to the popular destinations of the winter ski resorts of Salzburg, the winter sun destination of Agadir, Morocco and to Newcastle in the UK. This expansion brings to 50, the total number of routes that Aer Lingus will operate from Dublin this winter.

In addition, the airline will be offering extra frequencies to Paris Charles De Gaulle, Dusseldorf, Wawsaw, Bucharest, Geneva, Milan, Barcelona, Malaga, Lisbon and Manchester.

Commenting on the announcement, Enda Corneille, Corporate Affairs Director, said "We are delighted to announce our second destination to Bulgaria, as well as the extension and re-introduction of a number of our services for the winter. Today's announcement demonstrates our response to the continued consumer demand across our route network and is further testament to our proposition of low fares and great service."

As indicated previously, Aer Lingus has reduced frequency on some of its long haul services out of Dublin and Shannon for the winter months (January to March 2008) due to a planned refurbishment of its long haul aircraft. The company also indicated last week that it is committed to its long haul strategy but due to the unprecedented price of oil will be temporarily suspending its Los Angeles route from 2nd November 2008.

Aer Lingus Announces New Route from Belfast to Paris

Aer Lingus Group plc today announced a new service from Belfast International to Paris, Charles de Gaulle beginning 30 March. The new service will operate on a daily basis with fares as low as £25 one-way including taxes and charges. Bookings can be made from tomorrow through the airline's website www.aerlingus.com

Aer Lingus CEO, Dermot Mannion commented, "Our market research has shown strong demand for Paris, Charles de Gaulle while Northern Ireland is increasingly popular with French visitors. We are delighted to be able to capitalise on this demand by launching Aer Lingus' low-cost, superior service offering on this route."

In order to facilitate the new route to Paris, Aer Lingus is redeploying one of the twice-daily flights from its Belfast Amsterdam service. This deployment will give customers additional choice while optimising the fleet use in Belfast. Aer Lingus will continue to operate one service daily to Amsterdam.

The Paris service marks the tenth route launched from Belfast since December 10 when Aer Lingus began flying from its new base in Belfast to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Geneva.

On 25 February, routes will be launched to Rome, Budapest, Malaga and Faro and on April 1, Nice will take off marking the complete network to ten destinations.

Aer Lingus Launches New Service to London Gatwick

Aer Lingus Group plc ("Aer Lingus") the Irish low-cost, low-fares airline today announced that it will commence scheduled services between Dublin and London Gatwick from the end of October 2007.

The London Gatwick service will operate four times daily at times scheduled to suit both business and leisure travellers. This schedule, which will include the first morning departure of any carrier from Dublin to London Gatwick, will complement Aer Lingus' highly successful Dublin to London Heathrow service.

London Gatwick is the UK's second largest airport, serving the southeast of England and with a 30-minute connection to central London.

This expansion brings to fourteen the number of new routes introduced so far in 2007 and is underpinned by the addition of two new A320 short haul aircraft, which will arrive later this year and increase the Aer Lingus short-haul fleet to 32 aircraft.

Speaking about the route launch, Aer Lingus Planning Director Stephen Kavanagh said; "The introduction of a new London gateway strengthens our existing network and reflects the growing demand from customers for low fares combined with good service. With over 60 direct services from Ireland to Europe, including popular business, city break and sun destinations we are clearly focused on giving our customers more choice, low fares and an enhanced travel experience".
