On Ground Services

Baggage to be checked in is weighed at the desk and then stowed in the aircraft’s hold, so it should be strong enough to ensure safe handling and transport.

At the check-in desk, the baggage is tagged with the passenger’s name, route, airport codes, flight numbers and date. The label becomes a sort of identity card. The receipt portion of the label is attached to the passenger’s ticket and is used to identify the baggage on arrival or trace it if mislaid. Passengers must register their baggage to go in hold at time of check-in.
