American to offer premium passengers priority airport services
American Airlines has just introduced an array of special services to make the airport and overall travel experience more convenient for its premium passengers - including Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby tier members of any oneworld partners' frequent flyer programme.
Throughout the airline's network (where available) their boarding passes will be marked "Priority AAcessSM", enabling them to board via a priority lane and at their convenience any time during the boarding process. They will also be eligible to use exclusive security screening lanes where available - currently, at Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago O'Hare, Miami, Los Angeles, New York JFK and La Guardia, St Louis, San Francisco and San Juan (Puerto Rico). These "Priority AAcessSM" customers will also continue to be able to use dedicated check-in desks.
News: American to open two new Caribbean routes from New York:
American Airlines, already the leading airline between New York and the Caribbean, is adding a further two new routes to the islands from JFK. It will serve St Kitts and Nevis from 18 November with two Boeing 757s a week, and St Lucia from November with an initial three Boeing 757s a week. Elsewhere, it connect Austin with John Wayne airport at Santa Ana, in California's Orange County from 5 September with daily Boeing MD80s westbound and 737-800s eastbound.
News: American to up-grade passenger cabins across its 757 fleet:
American Airlines is to upgrade the passenger cabins of its entire fleet of 124 Boeing 757s. The improvements, to be made from next year, will include new seats, new cabin interiors and updated in-flight entertainment systems. First Class will be expanded by two more seats, giving a total of 24 on each aircraft. The airline has already announced plans for enhancements to its 777s, 767-300s and 767-200s.
American to open service to third London gateway
American Airlines is to open service to a third London airport, with the launch of daily flights to the UK capital's Stansted from New York JFK from 28 October. The new service adds Stansted to the oneworld network.
American will inaugurate the route with daily two-class Boeing 767-300s, featuring its next generation Business Class seats that convert into lie flat beds. A second daily frequency will be added early in 2008.
American already serves London's Heathrow and Gatwick. Its additional service will take its daily schedule between the USA and London to 20 round trips daily.
A fourth London airport is also on the oneworld network, with British Airways flights from London City.
News: American Airlines and affiliates to open a dozen new routes
American Airlines and its regional affiliates are opening more than a dozen new routes in the coming months, with most of the expansion from New York.
The mainline airline itself will launch two new transatlantic routes from JFK from 1 May - to Iberia hub Barcelona and to Milan Malpensa, using two-class Boeing 767-300s on both routes.
American launches its new JFK-London Stansted route on 28 October and will now double frequencies to two a day from 7 April.
It has also recently launched services between JFK and Las Vegas and between LaGuardia and Minneapolis-St Paul.
From its Chicago O'Hare hub, American will inaugurate daily non-stops to Buenos Aires from 13 December, using two-class Boeing 767-300s. It already serves the Argentinian city from Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami and New York JFK.
Also in Latin America, the airline will fly from its Dallas/Fort Worth home to Panama City four days a week and Providenciales (Turks and Caicos Islands) weekly from 13 December, using two-class Boeing 737-800s. On the same date, it will launch non-stops between Phoenix and Miami, also with 737-800s.
From New York JFK, American Eagle will fly daily from 13 December to Pittsburgh, which it already serves from LaGuardia, and fly to Montreal from LaGuardia three times daily, in addition to its existing thrice dailies from JFK. Also from LaGuardia, it will operate twice-dailies to Memphis.
Elsewhere, it will inaugurate dailies between Chicago O'Hare and Gulfport-Biloxi, also from 13 December, while AmericanConnection will fly non-stops between St Louis and Springfield, Illinois, from 4 November.
News: American plans to fly Chicago – Moscow
American Airlines, the world’s largest airline and a founding member of the global oneworld Alliance®, will begin nonstop service from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport (DME) on June 2, 2008.
American plans to fly its Chicago – Moscow service six days a week with its 225-seat, two-class (Business and Coach/Economy) Boeing 767-300 aircraft, featuring 30 Next Generation Business Class seats. Eastbound flights will fly every day except Sunday. Westbound flights will operate every day except Monday.
