About British Airways

oneworld® founder member British Airways launched the world's first daily scheduled international air service and remains the world's leading international airline. Throughout its history, it has been a pioneer - the first airline to offer jet passenger services, the first to operate weather-beating autolandings, the first to offer supersonic passenger services and the first in the modern era to offer fully-flat beds.[1] Its main base is London Heathrow, the world's most popular international airport. It also has hubs at London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow. With its franchisees and affiliates, it serves more than 210 destinations and some 90 countries, in Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa and North and South America. Among its oneworld partners, British Airways owns 10 per cent of Iberia.[2] It has wide-ranging commercial agreements with the Spanish airline, and with Qantas. It also code-shares with all other members of the alliance. Beyond oneworld, it has commercial links with Alaska, Emirates, Jet Airways and SN Brussels. OpenSkies is a subsidiary business airlines of British Airways. OpenSkies started their operations on the 19th June 2008 with a single Boeing B757 which was transferred fro the British Airways fleet.[3] British Airways Group fleet as of March 2009 comprised 245 aircraft - one of the largest fleets in Europe. The fleet currently includes 55 Boeing 747s, 42 Boeing 777s, 21 Boeing 767s, 15 Boeing 757s, 79 Airbus A319/320/321s, 22 Boeing 737s, 9 Avro RJ100's and 2 Avro RJ85's.[4]

Frequent flyer program

If you fly with us frequently, you can collect Tier Points through the frequency, travel class and distance of your journeys. These can take you up to the Silver and Gold membership tiers where you’ll collect bonus BA Miles, gain access to exclusive departure lounges and more.[5] As a British Airways Executive Club member, you have the chance to collect BA Miles, which you can spend on reward flights or upgrades. The more BA Miles you collect, the further they can take you. You can collect BA Miles by flying with British Airways - or one of the partner airlines - or by staying in selected hotels, renting cars, using a British Airways Credit Card or shopping with many other partners. You can also purchase additional BA Miles to top up your balance.[6] There are three tier levels of the Executive Club: Blue, Silver and Gold. Tier Points allow you to move up through the different levels, enjoying the additional benefits each tier brings.
