Return flight EY267 will depart Chennai on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 3.15pm, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 5.45pm the same day. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the service will operate as flight EY269, departing Chennai at 8.20pm and arrive in the UAE capital at 10.50pm.

James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said: “Etihad has made no secret of the fact that it wants to build up its Indian services and looks forward to expand its flying programme to the country with the launch of these two exciting new destinations.

“The governments of the UAE and India, and particularly the Department of Transport of Abu Dhabi, deserve great credit for further opening up air links between these two emerging nations and allowing Etihad to grow its services to these developing cities in India.”

The coastal city of Kozhikode will be Etihad’s third destination in Kerala, to add to its highly successful flights to Kochi (Cochin) and state capital, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum). Chennai is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal and is the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The addition of the two new cities brings the number of Indian destinations served by Etihad to six and follows successful bi-lateral talks between the governments of the UAE and India, aimed at further liberalising flying links between the two countries.

These talks also saw Etihad awarded traffic rights to two further cities in India, Kolkata (Calcutta) and Jaipur. The airline is finalising the launch dates for these additional destinations.

Etihad currently operates 28 flights a week from the UAE to India, with flights from Abu Dhabi to the commercial capital Mumbai, the national capital New Delhi and also Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and Kochi (Cochin) in the southern Indian state of Kerala.

Subject to governmental approvals, the airline is pushing to secure further traffic rights from Abu Dhabi to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Etihad will operate a two class Airbus A320 on both the Kozhikode and Chennai routes configured to carry 140 passengers with 20 in business class and 120 in economy class.

Etihad Airways New York City Luxury Chauffeur Service

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is introducing a chauffeur service for business and first class passengers travelling to and from New York’s JFK airport from February 2007.

All premium zone passengers travelling within a 70 mile radius of JFK, in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, will receive the complimentary luxury car service.

Geert W. Boven, the airline’s executive vice president, sales & services said: “Etihad has established a reputation for providing the very highest standards of hospitality and Etihad Chauffeur is a further example of our service quality.

“We understand that the ground experience is just as important as in the air with travelling time to and from airports often leaving passengers feeling pressured, something the chauffeur service totally removes.”

Etihad has chosen Empire International, one of the world’s largest chauffeured transportation companies, to provide the chauffeur service within the tri-state area.

Passengers flying into JFK from Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways will be met by an Etihad staff member or chauffeur in the arrivals area and escorted to their limo, ensuring little time is wasted at the airport.

Etihad flight EY504, departs New York at 23.10 arriving the next day in Abu Dhabi at 20.25. The return flight, EY503 departs from Abu Dhabi International Airport daily at 14:15, arriving into JFK Airport’s Terminal Four at 21:25.

Etihad Airways confirms extra flights to Australia

Etihad Airways has welcomed the signing of a new aviation agreement between the governments of the UAE and Australia which grants the Abu Dhabi airline up to 28 flights per week to Australia by 2010.

James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said: “This is terrific news ahead of our first flight to Sydney on Monday. We will seriously consider in the months ahead whether we fly twice a day to Sydney from next year or operate to another Australian city.

“The new agreement will undoubtedly enhance greater ties between the UAE and Australia and both governments are to be congratulated in their determination to increase the number of flights between the two countries.”

Trade between the two countries currently stands at around US$ 3 billion (AED 11 billion), with the UAE firmly established as Australia’s largest trade partner in the Middle East and the fastest growing destination for Australian products and services.
