Finnair to fly to Hong Kong daily
Finnair is to fly between its Helsinki hub and the Hong Kong home of oneworld partner Cathay Pacific daily in the coming winter season, starting 25 October, up from four a week last year. Timings on a number of its key Asian routes will also be changed to provide better connections with its European network.
Finnair to launch flights to Russia's Yekaterinburg
Finnair will launch new flights from its Helsinki hub to Yekaterinburg and will increase frequencies to its two established Russian destinations. Finnair will be the second Oneworld carrier to serve Yekaterinburg, alongside Malév Hungarian Airlines. A start date for the new service has not yet been confirmed, but Finnair will operate the new service three times a week. Finnair will in meantime increase frequencies to Moscow from April to two a day, besides code-sharing on another two dailies operated by Aeroflot, up from a combined three a day at present. Schedules to St Petersburg should also increase to double daily by summer 2009, with another two dailies operated by Rossiya also carrying the Finnair code, up again from the current three flights a day.
Finnair links Nuremberg to network as oneworld's tenth German gateway
Nuremberg has joined the oneworld® network, as the tenth destination in Germany served by the alliance, with Finnair flying there daily from and to its Helsinki home, using Embraer regional jets. With the three-letter IATA code NUE, Nuremberg is at the centre of northern Bavaria, with some five million people live in its catchment area.
New Flights between Helsinki and Hong Kong
Finnair is now connecting its Helsinki home with Cathay Pacific's Hong Kong hub non-stop, with frequencies on the route increased to daily. Previously the airline flew between the two cities three times weekly, with a stop at Bangkok.
Finnair to be fourth oneworld airline to serve Seoul
Seoul is to be the latest destination in Asia served by Finnair, with an initial five Airbus A340-300s a week between the South Korean capital and the airline's Helsinki home. It will become the fourth oneworld airline to serve the city, with Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines offering year-round services to its Incheon airport, and Qantas flying there on a seasonal basis. JAL also operates to the city's other main airport, Gimpo. Finnair will be the only airline flying between Seoul and northern Europe, with excellent connections across the continent at its Helsinki hub. This week, Finnair also launched its new flights to Mumbai, joining British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qantas and Royal Jordanian in serving the Indian city.
