Through the service point you can also book hotel rooms, order guided tours, purchase bus and train tickets for travel within Finland, tickets to events, Helsinki cards and travel insurance.
Advance seat reservation is available up to 6 months prior to departure on all Finnair scheduled international flights. Advance seat reservation is also available for groups. The seat reserved in advance can not be absolutely quaranteed, as we might have to switch seats for example if the aircraft type or version is changed. The seat will be confirmed when the passenger checks in.
Economy Class Seat
On intercontinental flights pillows and blankets are available in the overhead lockers if you wish to rest or if the aircraft feels chilly. On European and domestic flights a few pillows and blankets are available. The Economy Class toilets are located in the rear section of the aircraft. Smoking is prohibited throughout the aircraft and the toilets are fitted with smoke detectors. In the toilets of Boeing MD-11, Airbus and Boeing 757 aircraft there is a baby changing table.
Cabin lights are dimmed for safety reasons during take-off and landing, so that the level of lighting is not significantly brighter inside the cabin than outside. The lights are switched on again when the fasten seatbelt sign has been switched off. Passengers can use the reading lights at all stages of the flight, and the cabin should not be completely dark at any stage. General lighting is adjusted to conditions and according to the light level outside the aircraft.
The Finnair fleet is gradually being updated with the spacious and fuel-efficient Airbus A340. At the moment our first Airbus A340 is being used on routes from Helsinki to Nagoya, Osaka, Shanghai, and Tokyo. The Airbus A340, and in the future also the A350, will replace our Boeing MD-11 on intercontinental routes.

In Flight Meals
The selection of meals and drinks served on flights varies depending on for example the flight time, the season of the year, the destination, the type of aircraft and the number of cabin staff. The menus change frequently and excellent wines are served to accompany your meal.
Service
As an Economy Class passenger, you can also use the fax and wireless satellite telephones on Boeing MD-11 aircraft, and the telephones on Airbus A340
On Board Entertainment
The movies shown on Boeing MD-11 and Airbus A340 aircraft are chosen so that they cover as wide a range as possible. Finnair also show films from the destination country and short programmes such as TV series. The newness of movies is also a selection criterion. The main movies are changed every month and they often coincide with their first nights in Finland. The second movie and the short programmes are changed every three months. In Economy Class on intercontinental flights you may ask the cabin crew for a portable Sony PSP game console and games to use during the flight. On Airbus A319/A320/A321 aircraft, video programmes are shown without sound.
On all flights Finnair's inflight magazine Blue Wings is available in the seat pockets for passengers to read and take away if they wish. The magazine is published ten times per year. The selection of newspapers consists of domestic and international publications.
