About Iberia

Iberia, the flag carrier of Spain, joined oneworld® in September 1999, providing oneworld alliance customers with the best and most convenient connections between Europe and Latin America. In February 2006 Iberia moved its Madrid operations into the new, state-of-the-art Madrid-Barajas Terminal 4.

In recent years, Iberia has become one of Europe's most consistently profitable airlines. It achieved net profits of EUR395 million for 2005 - its tenth year running in the black.

Its worldwide network extends to more than a hundred destinations in 40 countries, including more than 35 points in Spain and 40 plus elsewhere in Europe. Its main hub is its home base Madrid. Its biggest markets are three domestic routes: Barcelona-Madrid (Europe's first walk-on shuttle service), Palma-Barcelona and Malaga-Madrid.

It was the first European airline to fly to South America and remains the leading carrier between Europe and Latin America, serving some 20 destinations in the region.

With its Iberia Regional / Air Nostrum affiliate, it carried more than 32 million passengers in 2005, operating more than a thousand departures a day.

Iberia has the European equivalent of anti-trust immunity with British Airways, and code-shares with American Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Finnair and members elect Japan Airlines, Malév and Royal Jordanian. Beyond oneworld, it has commercial links with Air Europa, Air Senegal, Avianca, CSA Czech, El Al Isreal, flyLAL(Lithuanian), Royal Air Maroc, Sterling (Maersk), SN Brussels, Syrian Arab, Taca, TAM, Tarom and Ukraine International.
