Lufthansa Economy Class

On Ground Services

Lufthansa transports a certain amount of checked in baggage (free baggage allowance) and hand baggage free of charge. These amounts may vary depending on the route, booking class, Miles & More status etc. If you exceed the free baggage allowance or if you take along particularly bulky or damageable baggage (bicycles, surf and snowboards, skis, large musical instruments, wardrobe trunks etc.) you may have to pay an additional fee and register your baggage with us prior to your departure. On all european routes and within Germany the free baggage allowance is defined by the Weight Concept. Here the number of pieces is not so relevant but the overall weight of your baggage. This is allowed: Economy Class: 20 kg. On all other international flights Lufthansa has defined baggage allowance by Piece Concept. Passangers are allowed to carry on 2 pieces of 23kg each. In Flight Meals

Lufthansa will serve you meals that suit the departure time and the destination. The meals are rounded off by a wide range of beverages. On selected routes Lufthansa will serve a movie snack during the Inflight Entertainment.

Service

Every business traveller knows the importance of flexibility. However, not all business travellers fly Business Class. With the Economy Flex tariffs you can take advantage of the same flexibility as in Business Class. For example, change a flight at no extra charge or cancel a flight with a complete refund of the full ticket price. You will also have more miles credited with an Economy Flex ticket than in the other Economy tariffs.

On Board Entertainment

At the start of the winter timetable, Lufthansa will provide personal in-seat video screens for passengers in Economy Class on long-haul flights. In order to make the individual inflight entertainment system as easy as possible for customers to operate and to take their wishes into account, Lufthansa is launching a test phase involving passengers on two of its aircraft. From 15 August, the in-seat screens will be in use on routes from Frankfurt to Detroit, Houston and Toronto.

During the test phase, two alternative types of controls will be available for the entertainment programme. One option is navigation via a touch screen; the other is a control panel integrated into the armrest of the seat. Both versions permit individual access to the entire entertainment programme on the in-seat screen. The menu functions can be operated in nine different languages. Lufthansa passengers can choose between German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

Once the test phase has been completed, the long-haul fleet will be progressively retrofitted with the new in-seat screens. The first Lufthansa aircraft with the newly equipped Economy class will enter scheduled service in November of this year.
