Silverjet's very 'sivilised' valet parking

Arriving back from a long-haul flight to find your car gleaming clean inside and out might seem a distant dream, but customers travelling with British business-class airline Silverjet, can now turn that into reality as the airline introduces a range of cleaning options to complement its hugely successful valet parking service.

With Silverjet's new ‘executive' valet parking option add-on, customers cars will be thoroughly washed, hoovered and deodorised, windows polished and bumpers dressed.

For those after the ultimate car clean experience, the ‘Silver' valet offers a superior clean including exterior wash and hand polish, seats, carpets and ceiling vacuumed and shampooed, dashboard and all interior panels cleaned, windows polished inside and out, and tyres and bumpers dressed.

Already a popular choice with travellers who want a stress-free holiday from start to finish, Silverjet's valet parking service enables customers to pull up outside the private terminal in London Luton airport, hand over the keys and forget about them until the end of their trip.

Silverjet launch daily cargo capacity to New York

Silverjet, the first British exclusively business class airline, is pleased to announce that from today it will offer cargo services on the daily scheduled service between London and New York.

Silverjet, which launched in January 2007, is the world's first carbon neutral airline and as such the extra fuel burn required to transport cargo will be factored into the equation and the price to offset the carbon will be included in the cost.

Silverjet's Boeing 767 daily flight between London Luton (LTN) and New York Newark (EWR) now offers 10 tonnes of payload outbound to the USA and 15 tonnes inbound, a longer runway at EWR and shorter flying time affords a higher take off weight. The cargo capacity will be managed by Silverjet Cargo a commercial partnership between Silverjet plc and Silverjet Cargo Ltd.

Silverjet Cargo has appointed General Sales Agents (GSAs) in both UK and USA; Platinum Air Cargo in the USA and CargoOne in the UK. The GSAs plan to fill the aircraft with general air cargo, consumer goods, electronics and excess luggage, as well as more unusual cargo such as, perishables and high value goods; agreements have already been reached with a number of high profile bands and film production companies to carry their equipment.

Silverjet Cargo can accept shipments from London Heathrow (LHR) and New York (JFK) as well as LTN and EWR and have established trucking contracts with Platinum, their GSA in the USA and with LHR based WFS (Worldwide Flights Services) in the UK. EWR offers state of the art perishables facilities and at LTN, ramp services from Servisair and cargo handling from Luton Cargo mean that perishables such as flowers and vegetables can be handled with ease.

Lawrence Hunt, Chief Executive of Silverjet said:

"We are delighted to now offer cargo capacity, a vital part of our ongoing business strategy. We have established cargo handling services at Heathrow and Luton airports in the UK and Newark and JFK airports in the USA with a dedicated intra airport trucking service to ensure a seamless service at whichever airport our customers wish to use. As the world's first carbon neutral airline, Silverjet are particularly keen to welcome customers who are looking to be more environmentally responsible with their supply chain and/or their travel plans across the Atlantic.

Michael Meagher, Managing Director of Silverjet Cargo said:

"With dedicated cargo capacity on the aircraft and utilising the professional services of GSAs and handling agents in the UK and USA I believe we can offer a high quality service to the market. The fleet expansion plans of Silverjet over the next couple of years will allow us to offer more destinations providing a valuable stream of revenue to the airline. Silverjet's immediate plans include the delivery of a second aircraft in June and a third in November 2007; the entire fleet will offer the same potential for cargo and we plan to exploit it fully."

On the ground...

Silverjet has created a new class of travel, heralded Silver Class, by designing a package that focuses on the customer as ally, not enemy. Common frustrations and hassles associated with travel have been eliminated, making the journey as comfortable, flexible and innovative as possible.

Before arriving at the airport, customers can choose their seat online, pre-order a range of made-to-order meals, and check in via mobile phone or web. Silverjet will take the hassle out of travelling to the airport by arranging a chauffeur driven car from home, or a free pick up from London Luton Parkway Station*. There’s even the option of valet parking for a small extra charge at London Luton for those with their own transport.**

Upon arrival at the private air terminal, customers can enjoy at 30 minute check in, thanks to no check-in desks, baggage belts or queues. Instead, customers can stay away from the busy duty free shops in the main airport and relax in the exclusive Silver Lounge. Whilst sitting in their seats, the professional ground team will check customers in, tag their luggage and offer a refreshing drink ahead of the flight.

In the air...

Crew have been handpicked from hospitality and service backgrounds to provide customers with a professional in flight experience (1:10 crew to customer ratio)

On night flights, lights stay off from take off to landing, overhead lights and irritating call bells have been removed and optional breakfast is served on tip toes. Minimal announcements are made and all trolleys have been removed from Silverjet’s aircraft to ensure maximum quietness. Jackets and coats are returned on leaving the aircraft, not an hour before landing. For those who want a lie in, Silverjet has devised a ‘Breakfast Express’ option so customers can have their breakfast ‘on the go’ and leave the plane with a steaming cup of coffee.

Whilst on board, there’s a delicious choice of appetisers and mains, which are plated in the galley and served by hand. In keeping with the airline’s premium service, customers can be entertained on the portable in flight entertainment system with noise reduction headsets, over 100 hours of new and silver screen movies, plus current UK or US television shows and collection of selected music.
