South African Airways offers Special Services for Business Class Passengers: Separate check-in counters, Priority on seat selection, Business Class passengers are invited to board the aircraft after all economy class passengers are settled, Special Baggage Tags and separate/special baggage loading.

Lounges

All the lounges at Johannesburg International Airport have been completely renovated, with the addition of an International Arrivals lounge. Cape Town International Airport boasts three lounges: one in the Domestic Terminal for Business Class and the First and Business Class Lounges in the International Terminal boast wonderful views of the Cape mountains. The First and Business Class lounges at London Heathrow have been operational since November 2001 and a new Arrivals Lounge for First Class, Business Class and Platinum Cardholders (situated on the Departures Level of Terminal 1) has recently been opened. The Cycad Premium Lounge in JIA is situated on the upper-mezzanine level (airside) of the International Departures Terminal. The lounge has a chef and team of waiters on duty seven days a week and offers a range of sophisticated dining options and a full bar service. Other facilities include five luxurious shower rooms, a soundproof reading room, a smoking room, and five soundproof snooze rooms with CD players.

Business Class Seat

The South African Airways Business Class seat features: Full Flat-bed seat with a pitch of 73 inches, Each seat has its own power supply for laptops. The power is 115 v AC, so only a 2-pin European-type plug is required, Individual reading lights with four settings, Individually adjustable lumbar support, Articulated armrest which flattens to widen the bed to 24 inches, Telephones at every seat. One can call the ground and there is a seat-to-seat call function, for calling other seats on board.

Service

A special Amenity Kit packed with toiletries allows passengers to refresh during the flight. Large pillows and snug duvets ensure a comfortable night’s rest.

On Board Entertainment

Full Audio-Video-On-Demand; passengers can stop, fast forward, pause or rewind their movies. A selection of 15 movies, 12 shorts and 10 games should be available on any flight. South African Airways offer customers on international flights access to either the Sony P@ssport system, or the Matsushita 3000 System. These are audio and video on demand systems and are available at every seat. Passengers can select from a library of movies and audio programmes and are able to play, pause and continue programmes as they wish.
