About Swiss

Founded in 2002 as the successor to Crossair, SWISS became a member of the Star Alliance network in April 2006. Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) serves 76 destinations in 40 countries all over the world (as of winter 2009/2010) from its Zurich hub and the further Swiss international airports of Basel and Geneva. SWISS is operating a 78-aircraft fleet.^[1] SWISS joined the Star Alliance April 1st, 2006. Since then it is a member of the largest network serving a wide range of airports and countries. From the start of the 2005/06 winter schedules, all customers of both airlines are offered an expanded global network of products and services. Members of Miles & More enjoy enhanced services and further benefits over the course of the summer.^[2]

Frequent flyer program

Miles & More is the SWISS frequent flyer programme. With Miles & More you can earn and redeem miles not only when you fly with SWISS but also when you travel with our other Star Alliance partners, as well as more than 20 additional affiliated airlines. You can also enjoy mileage benefits in connection with hotel accommodation, car rental, credit card purchases and much more.^[3]

Fleet

SWISS operates a versatile fleet of altogether 78 aircraft - 25 for long and 53 for medium and short haul flights. The fleet currently comprises seven different kind of aircraft: For long distances, SWISS counts on Airbus A340 and A330, for shorter flights on the Airbus A320 family (A319, A320, A321) and Avro RJ 100.^[4]
