About TAP Portugal

TAP Portugal is the leading Portuguese airline, established in1945. In 2005, the Company celebrated its 60th anniversary and became a member of the Star Alliance network on March 14th. Its hub in Lisbon is a key European gateway at the crossroads of Africa, North and South America, where TAP stands out as the leading European carrier operating to Brazil. The Company’s current network comprises 46 destinations in 27 countries worldwide.

TAP is currently operating 48 weekly frequencies to Brazil, with direct daily flights departing Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Salvador and Fortaleza plus eight weekly services to Sao Paulo and six weekly flights to Natal. Adding to these, in 2006 TAP also introduced direct operations from Oporto to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, with three weekly frequencies each.

A wider range of destinations beyond its own network is also available, served by code-share operations with a number of partner-airlines. Thus, TAP offers customers an extended and highly flexible choice while providing them with the most convenient scheduled flights and easy connectivity onto more distant points.

Having recently taken delivery of new long and medium haul aircraft, the Company currently operates 200 daily flights on average, with a modern fleet of 48 all-Airbus aircraft: 6 A-310’s; 3 A-330’s and 4 A-340’s in operation on the long haul sector and 17 A-319’s; 3 A-321’s and 15 A-320’s on the medium range.

Pursuing a customer-focused orientation, TAP continuously strives to deliver safe, reliable and upgraded product & services tailored to meet customers’expectations. Retaining the Portuguese character of the company’s brand and quality service as the basic concept, this has been, in most recent years, the main driver of TAP’ s strategy, focusing on the Portuguese hospitality and on the availability of the latest in comfort on board, as well as boosting the national genuine gastronomy and wines, along with the utilization of Portuguese quality and select products.
