"Checked baggage" means baggage, which is delivered to and accepted by the carrier for carriage and for which a baggage check (baggage tag) is issued. Checked baggage, therefore, is the baggage which the carrier takes sole custody of until returned to the passenger. A weight system is applied for all Vietnam Airlines' route networks (except cases specified in part b-Piece Systems). Economy Class (Y): maximum 20 kg of checked baggage.

The piece System applies for through checked-in baggage of the itinerary from HAN/SGN to America/ Canada/Hawaii/Guam and from America/Canada to Vietnam, which connecting from/to Vietnam Airlines flights at gateways within 24 hours. Other cases applying piece system shall be given by the Passenger Marketing Department. Economy Class: Two pieces of baggage (measured together) of which the sum of three dimensions does not exceed 273 cm (107 inches), provided the sum of three dimensions of each bag does not exceed 158 cm (62 inches), and that the weight of each does not exceed 32kgs (70 lbs).

In Flight Meals

Vietnam Airlines serves meals and beverages free of charge on board its international and domestic flights. Passengers with special dietary requirements should request special meals when booking flights, or at least 24 hours before departure. For the best service, please sit in your assigned seat.

Service

Newspapers and magazines are available in English and Vietnamese on all flights. Heritage and Heritage Fashion are the airline’s two in-flight magazines, and are issued monthly. These two publications present the latest information on national culture, tourism, society, and entertainment.

On Board Entertainment

On long-haul flights in the Boeing 777 and the Boeing 767, all seats are equipped with in-flights entertainment. The Boeing 777 is equipped with Audio/Video On Demand (AVOD). AVOD allows passengers to select from a wide range of multilingual entertainment options, including feature films, music, news, and games. The Boeing 767 is also equipped with a shared overhead TV with 3-6 film channels, and nine music channels according to a fixed calendar.
